I got my first call from the Prime Minister, who told me that the president's plane had been shot down and that we had to maintain calm. And I said, well, the best way for you to maintain calm is you stay safe. And we got to get you to the national radio stations, because radio in Rwanda was nearly the voice of God. There was no TV or other means. And so people lived by the radio. And so if we could get her to the radio station in time, in a safe way, to talk to the people, to stay calm, we might be able to keep control on the situation.
